DAPTO HIGH SCHOOL SCHOOL SWIMMING CARNIVAL
Report from Mr Neal, swimming carnival organiser:
On the 8th of February Dapto High School held its annual swimming carnival. The weather was warm and a large number of students enjoyed the day both in and out of the pool. Year 12 students in their Safari Theme provided colour and a vibrant atmosphere which led to a happy and pleasant day for all students, staff and family spectators. The crocodile relay race between Year 12 students and staff was hotly contested and it was an awesome way to end a brilliant day of fun and competitive action.
A special thanks to Derek Bryan from the Melanoma Institute of Australia who was our special guest on the day. Mr Bryan and our SunSafe Ambassadors Jake Gander and Holly Johnstone handed out prizes for students who were adhering to the SunSafe message. It was very pleasing to see so many hats, sunglasses, protective clothing and lots of sunscreen being applied over and over again on a very hot day.
Congratulations to the following age champions:
- 12yrs – Lily Rangitaawa and Keenan McDonald
- 13yrs – Ashley Bunting and Jack Crick
- 14yrs – Kiahni Starr and Tyler Tutereski
- 15yrs – Sophie Jones and Isaac Officer
- 16yrs – Alysha Paull and Liam Spillane
- 17yrs+ – Myah Ambrose and Jonty Faulkner
Record Breakers:
Congratulations to Isaac Officer and Emilija Bosevski who both achieved school swimming records. Isaac smashed the 200m Individual Medley and the 100m Freestyle school record for 15 years old boys, while Emilija broke the record in the 50m Backstroke for 12 year old girls.
Sophie Jones and Isaac Officer both recorded the most individual points for their respective houses, accumulating a massive 60 points each throughout a long day of swimming.
Great effort and Congratulations – Isaac, Emilija and Sophie!
House Competition:
The House competition was fierce with points being added from participation and competitive events as well as our first ever House Noodle Race. Avondale finished with a flurry which resulted in a close victory. Well done to all members of Avondale on this fantastic result.
Avondale - 419 points
Nebo - 391 points
Wongawilli – 371 points

A big thank you to all students who were officials on the day and to all staff who ensured a very safe and successful Swimming Carnival for 2019.
Good Luck to all competitors at the Zone Swimming Carnival which will be held at Dapto Olympic Pool on Wednesday the 20th of February.
