Religion and ethics

NSW schools offer special religious education and special education in ethics. Approved providers deliver these, where available.

Write to the school if you wish to withdraw your child from special religious education, sometimes known as scripture. Special education in ethics is an option for your primary-age child if you withdraw them from special religious education. For more information, visit Religion and ethics.

Special Religious Education (SRE)

At Dapto High School, SRE is delivered on Mondays and Tuesdays throughout Terms 1-4 for Years 7-8. Combined Christian SRE seminars in the school hall are offered once a term for students of Years 9 & 10.

The online enrolment process asks parents/carers their child’s to participation preference in SRE. After the initial enrolment, notification of changes to a child's enrolment in SRE should be given to the school office, in writing.

The following SRE classes are offered at Dapto High School:

Combined Christian SRE

Christian SRE at Dapto High School is provided by SRE teachers authorised and trained by the Anglican Diocese of Sydney under a combined arrangement between different local Christian denominations and churches. The approved providers in this combined arrangement are the Anglican Diocese of Sydney, Baptist Union of NSW, Australian Christian Churches, Presbyterian Church of Australia (NSW) and Uniting Church in Australia (NSW Synod).

Christian SRE engages students in conversations as they question life, explore values and discover faith. The authorised curriculum for Christian SRE at Dapto High School is Think Faith. For more information about Think Faith, including an overview and the curriculum scope and sequence, please visit the Think Faith website https://thinkfaith.com.au/

During the time that SRE classes are being held, Year 7 students not attending will be located in a separate learning space and will participate in an alternate wellbeing program. Year 8 students will attend their normally allocated class.
