Drop Off and Pick Up Guidelines

Dapto High School’s location, front of school drive-thru road and surrounding traffic conditions, provide a unique challenge for the morning drop-off and afternoon pick-up of students. The following are some guidelines for all community members to follow:

Morning Drop Off

Students are welcome at school anytime from 8am, with Breakfast Club available most days. Please do not try to drop off at 8.27am for an 8.28am start. If getting closer to 8.28am please consider a drop point in the surrounding streets, where students can walk safely into school, rather than driving onto the busy school site.

Afternoon Pick Up

Our students in the Wollemi Special Education Unit finish their school day at 2.20pm so these students can exit the school safely and calmly. To allow this to happen, we ask parents to only enter the site before 2.30pm if picking up a student in Wollemi. If parents need to arrive before 2.30pm please do not enter the driveway or school site. Doing so causes congestion and makes it difficult for other parents, deliveries and staff trying to enter or exit the site.•Please consider picking students up from a location in the surrounding streets. This will help to disperse traffic and prevent you from sitting in long traffic queues. There are many locations where students can walk safely just a few minutes from the school.

Wet Weather

If it is raining and your child does not have a jacket or umbrella they will probably get wet. Please do not change plans for wet weather, instead allow your child to walk with an umbrella, catch the bus as normal or get picked up from an adjoining street.

Entering the School Site

Only enter the school site if it cannot be avoided. The site is becoming overcrowded and dangerous. Encourage your child to take a short walk from/to a nearby street. If you must enter the school site, do not queue across driveways, gates, roads or paths and be considerate of other cars and pedestrians.

We are all part of the wonderful Dapto High School community, so please follow these guidelines and work together with patience, kindness and respect to make school drop off and pick up a safe and pleasant experience for all members of our school community.
